Elon Musk, Mark Cuban Discuss Using Dogecoin to Solve Twitter Spam Problem

Shark Tank star Mark Cuban has proposed a solution to Twitter spam using the meme cryptocurrency Dogecoin (DOGE). Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk agrees it’s “not a bad idea.” Twitter recently accepted a takeover offer from Musk.

Elon Musk optimistic about Mark Cuban’s Dogecoin idea

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has been discussing on Twitter how to tackle the platform’s spam bot problem. He has promised to fix the spam problem “or die.” Twitter last week agreed to sell the company to Musk for about $44 billion.

American billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban has a proposal. He is the star of the commercial reality TV series Shark Tank and the owner of the NBA team the Dallas Mavericks.

In a Sunday morning tweet, Cuban suggested everyone tweet a Dogecoin (DOGE) for unlimited posting. If someone marks a post as spam and someone confirms it’s spam, that person gets the spammer’s DOGE. He further explained that the spammers had to post 100 times more Dogecoin. However, if the post is not spam, the whistleblower loses his Dogecoin.

At the time of writing, Cuban’s tweet has been liked more than 9K times. Dogecoin co-founder Billy Marcus said, “I love this.” Musk replied, “Nice idea.”

Many Dogecoin supporters think Cuban’s proposal is a good idea, noting that it is very bullish for DOGE. However, some are sceptical about its viability, some question the requirement to start paying for the current free service, and force people to use meme cryptocurrencies as collateral to prevent spam.

The issue of unscrupulous users profiting from the gaming system has been raised. One Twitter user replied to Cuban: “No. You didn’t think about that. How do you deal with dishonest actors flagging spam instead of humans confirming it’s spam just to get ‘spammers’ dog coins?

Tesla boss promises “significant improvements” to Twitter. He called encrypted spam bots “one of the most annoying problems on Twitter.” Before the social media giant accepted his takeover offer, he said that if his Twitter bid was successful, he “will beat the spam bots or die.”

Both Musk and Cubans support Dogecoin. Musk is often called the godfather. In August last year, the duo said that Dogecoin was the “strongest” cryptocurrency in the payments space. Cuba’s NBA team, the Dallas Mavericks, accepts DOGE as a commodity, and the Shark Tank star has been encouraging people to get into the cryptocurrency space with Dogecoin.
