Two of the greatest hip-hop artists – Eminem and Snoop Dogg – have made a new video that mentions NFTs and BAYC several times in addition to cannabis, especially. Both have experience in the field and have multiple digital collectibles.
Shady, Snoopy, Boring Appie
Marshall Mathers III, also Eminem’s real name, teased the new song and video in a tweet yesterday, citing the pair’s previous issues. This comes after Snoop Dogg said Eminem won’t find a place among his 10 greatest rappers of all time.
True to his nature, the Detroit-based hip-hop artist responded with a song called Zeus. But when they showed up at the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show, the pair seemed to have put their past behind them, alongside Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Kendrick Lamar and Mary J. Blige.
The new song further confirms their reconciliation, with Eminem opening with “This probably should have happened some time ago.”
The video itself is semi-animated, at which point the two rappers show off NFTs from the popular Bored Ape Yacht Club series. In Eminem’s case, it’s the one he bought last year for 123 ETH (worth about $462,000 at the time) and still shows up as his profile picture on Twitter.
Snoop Dogg is also depicted by one of the BAYC NFTs he purchased late last year.
Other NFT/crypto business of both parties
In addition to buying Bored Ape #9055 last year, as noted above, Eminem owns several other digital collectibles associated with his OpenSea account – Shady Holdings. Additionally, the legendary rapper, and Oscar winner, has launched his own series of NFTs called Shady Con (named after his hip-hop alter ego, Slim Shady).
Snoop Dogg, on the other hand, is more involved in the crypto and NFT industry. Last year, he promoted Dogecoin, but his exposure to non-fungible tokens soared after he revealed he was Cozomo de’ Medici – an anonymous NFT collector who at the time held nearly $20 million worth of such assets.
He also announced plans to collect on Cardano, participated in an investment round in crypto company MoonPay, released other Boring Ape-themed music, owns digital real estate at The Sandbox, and hopes to bring digital weed farms to the Metaverse.
