Meta and NFTs – how it all started
Back in March 2022, Meta’s CEO teased the feature, noting that the company was exploring the possibility of adding support for digital collectibles on its platform. Additionally, the CEO noted that Facebook could potentially gain NFT minting support in the coming months.
With the help of blockchain technology, the Meta NFT function may bring digital collectibles to over 3 billion monthly users worldwide. Additionally, the social media giant posted what collectors and creators can expect from the upcoming integration, which includes augmented reality in Instagram Stories.
Additionally, reliable sources have stated that Instagram will support NFTs powered by Solana, Ethereum, Flow, and Polygon. Additionally, Facebook rival Twitter recently revealed an NFT profile photo integration for its Blue service for paying users.
